Reflection
What factors into our net worth are most important? Do we evaluate it based on monetary value, the value of our goods, or the value of our investments? Paul reminded Timothy that the ultimate gain, the gain of incalculable value, is essentially decided by a very simple calculation which is Godly Character plus Contentment. What would happen if we acknowledged that those who are truly wealthy are those who have godly character and are happy with the blessings they have received in life?
My Prayer
Dear Father, you are the source of every blessing. I pray that you will reorient my priorities away from the avarice of this world and toward a more holy set of financial principles. Attempt to model my behavior after the godliness that Jesus exemplified in his day-to-day activities. Teach me the happiness that can only be found in you so that I can find it in myself. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
